_1773 The Tea Act
On May 10, 1773 the Tea Act was passed by the British Parliament. This act saved the East India Company and cut out the middle man for the transportation of tea. This company sold overstock tea at a lowered price and undercut the business of local merchants which angered the people.
1773 The Boston Tea Party
The Tea Act angered the people and caused them to take action. On December 16th colonists dressed in Native American clothing and snuck onto an East India Company ship and dumped 342 chests of tea into the ocean.
